Our Story His Glory

Welcome...

How many of us believe that God still does miracles today, in the 21st century?

I surely do.

My mother woke up from a coma...

I would not have known Jesus' love and reality if not for his saving Grace on my mom's life...It is said that our stories are a sum of our experiences...It is also said that stories have the power to give Life and Hope...When was the last time a miracle was shared?

I'll start off this blog by sharing about my mother's miracle.

Me and my twin sister were only 4 years old. My younger brother probably hadn't turn 1 yet. Our family had just returned from a trip to Bangkok to visit our grandparents there. It was the first time they had seen any of their grandchildren. I don't recall much about it, as we were very young then.

Upon our flight back to Malaysia, my mom developed very bad acne on her face. This was probably due to the pollution in Bangkok. Back then, in the early 1980's, they didn't have very efficient methods of clearing acne. What started off as a widely practiced home procedure, soon quickly turned into a tragedy that no one ever expected. She heated a sewing needle over fire and pricked the boil on her face.

From what my father relates to me, that simple act caused a deadly infection.

A brain infection developed. She was immediately hospitalised into the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a brand new facility.

Thereafter, a few events pushed her closer to death:
1. She was given penicillin (this was as deadly as poison in her system)
2. Her body needed a blood transfusion and by an unfortunate event, the donor's blood that she received was infecfed with malaria.

My father was devastated. My mother's parents and grandparents could do nothing but pray.

The whole church prayed. The whole village prayed and fast...when there is no Hope, what more can man do but leave it to hands of God?

I don't remember anything from that event, except the image of a 75 year old kneeling before the hospital bed. It was my great grandfather pleading to the "unseen" for an intervention.

They had fasted and prayed for weeks...

The doctors came up to my father 1 day and asked him to do the most unimaginable...sign his wife's life away...the ICU room could be used for someone else who has a 'chance' to live. If she did wake up, she would be brain damaged...to leave her going on like this, is like keeping a vegetable alive...

Have you ever absolutely broken? When all logic seems to tell you what is to be done, yet your heart knows that there has to be an Answer to your situation?

I can't imagine being in my father's shoes that day...that terrible terrible day...when he looked at 3 of his children and have to decide the fate of his wife. What a burden to shoulder...

Someone once said "a Christian Life is not a perfect life...but a Christian Life makes it easier for one to face Life's challenges with God's promises"...so how true.

I am glad that my father made the right decision that day. That Oh! So fateful day.

I wouldn't be here today if not for his decision and if not for my mother being in my life.

By the grace of the living God, my mother's condition suddenly 'turned' one day. Her chart readings improved dramatically over a course of a few days, and there was no scientific explanation to it. And she woke up...

I'll never forget that image of great grandpa by my mother's hospital bed and how ever wrong it was scientifically for mom to ever 'wake up"...she was pronouced mentally dead! And yet, God woke her up...

What is your situation???...believe that God has a purpose for you, it may sound like a cliche, but I think it is about time more Christians take it seriously, when the going gets tough, a straw hut will fall, build your house out of bricks...

I hope my family's true story has made it more real for you.

If you have a story to share, please blog with us.

Luke 17:6 - He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.
